NYSSLHA Announces 2008 Honors

Latham, NY – (April 16, 2008) –The New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) honored several recipients at its annual convention recently. The Association’s Honors are awarded to members who have distinguished themselves as leaders in the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology and/or in the discipline of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

“These honoress are truly some of New York State’s finest and we take great pride in knowing that they are members of our organization. Their outstanding devotion and dedication to the field of speech-language pathology and audiology continues to be an inspiration. It is a distinct honor and pleasure to recognize these individuals and their accomplishements,” NYSSLHA President, Salvatore Gruttadauria said.

The following honors were bestowed:

Honors of the Association-Dennis Hampton;

Distinguished Achievement Award-Mary Louise Edwards;

Distinguished Service Award-Barbara Leader and Michael Bergen;

Distinguished Clinician Award-William Shapiro;

Distinguished Clinical Service Award-Rochester Hearing & Speech;

Special Citation-All My Children

Louis DiCarlo Award for Outstanding Clinical Achievement- William Shapiro;

Frank R. Kleffner Award-Mark Ylvisaker;

Rolland Van Hattum Award-Susan Brannen

The New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA) has served as the trade association for the state’s speech-language pathologists, audiologists since 1950.
