NYSSLHA's lobbyists attended the NYS Hearing Aid Advisory Board meeting on Friday, September 26, to monitor discussions regarding hearing aid dispensing/regulation changes. The Hearing Aid Advisory Board recommended and the NYS DOS agreed that they would extend the requirement for hearing aid dispensers (including audiologists) to complete four hours of hearing aid dispenser topics including two hours of infection control until July 1, 2009. We still need clarification on what is considered appropriate coursework, that will be forthcoming.
