DOH Announces New EI Changes

NYSSLHA responds to DOH's Proposed Rules Theresa Massimi, President and James Feuerstein, Immediate Past President, sent a comment letter to Deputy Commissioner of the NYS Department of Health, regarding the proposed regulatory changes to the Early Intervention program.

Many of the concerns we had last year in the legislative process have resurfaced as regulatory proposals in 2010. Some of the areas of concern:

  • Medicaid Provider Mandates
  • Work Experience Requirements Eligibility
  • Criteria for Speech Services

To view the proposed rules and NYSSLHA's response letter, visit our Legislative Advocacy page.

NYSSLHA will continue to monitor these proposals through the public comment process. NYSSLHA's Lobby Day scheduled for January 25th will include visits with DOH officials and legislators that have supported us on this issue on the past. In addition, a NYSSLHA board member will testify at the Friday, February 5th public hearing in Albany, NY.
