This webinar will describe a coffee cart program used in an 8:1:1 special education class to target social and academic goals. A framework for meaningful participation was used to foster school community for students with disabilities. 

The model for the project included interprofessional practice between a special education teacher and a speech-language pathologist to design an inclusive learning environment.

Presenters:

Danielle Fenner, Ed.D is the Director of Special Education at Marathon Central School and an adjunct lecturer at Binghamton University. With extensive experience in public education leadership and classroom practice, Dr. Fenner is committed to developing innovative student-centered programs that bridge academic instruction with authentic, real-world application. Dr. Fenner's professional interests include trauma-informed practices, social-emotional learning, trends in special education, and inclusive education models that increase meaningful access and participation for all learners. She is the recipient of the Civic Engagement Leadership Award and was honored with the Liberty Mutual Teacher of the Month Award (April 2017 and April 2019) and the Liberty Mutual Teacher of the Year Award (April 2019) in recognition of her innovative and community-centered educational initiatives.

Cassandra Natali, MS, CCC-SLP is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Binghamton University.  Her areas of interest include the school-based services, social-emotional learning, language and emergent literacy development in preschool children, and biases in the field of speech-language pathology. Cassandra has been the recipient of several awards for her work in the schools, including NYSSLHA’s Distinguished Clinician Award in 2024 and ASHA’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contributions in Preschool-Grade 12 Education Settings in 2025.
